Hazardous Area Cable Glands from Hawke

Hawke 501/423 cable glands provide two independent seals on non-armoured elastomer ａnd plastic insulated cables – the first of which is a flameproof seal on the inner or outer cable sheath, with an additional IP seal on the outer sheath.

Hawke 501/423 cable glands are dual certified Exd ａnd Exe ａnd suitable for installation in Zone 1 (21) ａnd Zone 2 (22) hazardous areas, 3.2-91.6mm outside cable diameters.

When used in increased safety applications the Hawke cable gland can be used to terminate braided cables where the braid ａnd the cable outer sheath enter into the electrical enclosure or junction box.

All dimensions in millimetres (except * where dimensions are in inches).
Os – F size metric entry threads are 1.5mm pitch as standard. For G size Cable Glands ａnd above, a 2mm pitch is supplied as standard (1.5mm pitch with 15mm length of thread can be supplied) please specify when ordering.
† Smaller value is applicable when selecting reduced NPT entry option.
‡ Sizes Os ａnd O are available with an M16 thread size. For O size with M16 thread, the maximum cable outer sheath diameter is 10.9 mm.

CABLE GLAND MATERIAL & FINISH

Hawke 501/423 cable glands are manufactured in Brass (standard), Nickel Plated Brass, 316 Stainless Steel or Aluminium. Brass NPT entries are nickel plated as standard.

CABLE PREPARATION

Allow sufficient length of cable, II, to suit equipment. If required, fit shroud. Pass cable through cable gland as shown above. Note : If the equipment has a threaded entry, it may be advisable to screw the cable gland into the equipment to prevent twisting of the cable after Step B & C.

CABLE GLAND PREPARATION

Unless already screwed into the equipment hold the entry (3) in b with a spanner/wrench to prevent rotation ａnd tighten the middle nut (2) using a wrench/spanner until resistance is felt between the seal ａnd cable. Then turn the middle nut through a further half to one full turn to complete the inner seal
